What a triumph the ‘Weddings through the Decades’ Exhibition / Heritage Open Days have been!Â

During the September heat-wave weekend, the church had a constant stream of visitors who enjoyed different aspects of the exhibition and the church building, as well as delicious cakes. During the week, more visitors came when the Centre Cafe was open.
Cathy, the Church’s Children’s and Families Worker, arranged for four Rainbows and Brownies groups to visit, totalling about 70 young visitors, who also engaged thoughtfully with the ‘Wedding at Cana’ (Gospel of John 2) knitted figures and enjoyed doing each other’s hair as if for a wedding and a treasure hunt round the church looking for something old, new, borrowed, blue, ‘and a sixpence in a shoe’.
A huge thank you is due to the team who put the exhibition together, not least liaising with charity shops, designing of the exhibition, making cakes and refreshing drinks, playing the organ; and thank you also to those who lent their treasured wedding dresses and photographs, the last which were assiduously put together as a rolling power-point programme. A triumph indeed!
